"Splendid Pair Of 18th Century Portraits"
COD 0855/1 Pair of refined paintings from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artworks attributable to the Italian painter Antonio Mercurio Amorosi (1660-1738), lacking authenticity. He will work mainly in Rome and following the taste of bombocciate he will perform popular genre scenes that draw inspiration from the life of the common people. In fact, these paintings are not true portraits but figures of a popular character much sought after by the Roman aristocracy. In the couple in question we see a beautiful lady with a parrot and a boy playing the flute, of notable pictorial quality and great charm. Pair of paintings that are part of a very rare group of eight paintings (see photo and request the bulk price if still available). Artworks that have undergone restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some small points. Overall in good state of conservation. Sight size H 63 x W 54 cm.
