Gendarmerie Officer's Sword of the Maison du Roy, model 1814/1815, Restoration period, 19th century. Chiseled and gilded bronze guard in the “Vendémiaire” style model. The arms of France have been replaced by the Imperial Eagle on Lightning Baton, head to the right with branches, in silver. Helmet pommel with crest and grille, plumed and laureate, turned to the left. Joining arch chiseled on either side of a fleur-de-lis and laurel branches with a dog's head at the top at the height of the helmet. Rocket completely filigreed with twisted wire and lower ferrule with a fleur-de-lys frieze and upper ferrule with branches. Straight quillon entirely chiseled and ending at the ends with a leonine face. The body node is devoid of any decoration and grainy. The guard plate is asymmetrical, the interior with a slight slope bearing an Imperial Eagle (in place of the Arms of France) against a background of bundles of four standards. The entire top is carved with a floral border and the lower top is carved with floral and fleur-de-lys. Triangular blade with median edges, blued and gilded in the first third with gilded decorations. Marking of the furnisher in a cartridge at the heel of the blade: "SHF", for SAMUEL HOPE also named SIMON HELVIG, son. Presence of his scarlet cloth tie, sheath missing.
