Dreamlike atmospheres, surreal veins, figurative themes ranging from classical to western mythology, evoke a fantasy world that goes beyond history and reality.

From earth to water, among fruits, flowers and insects: all these elements recur in the fabrics and in the glass and ceramic works of this section. Valuable, among the many examples, the 'Vase with poetic verse and detail of forest' (1900, Gallè), of the series Verreries Parlantes, which bears at the base a verse taken from the Night of Victor Hugo: 'Les arbres se parlent tout bas'.

Thanks to the value of the materials used, the high level of manufacture, the elegance of the shape, even everyday objects become real luxury objects.

The artistic vase is an object of great appeal, present in every type of furniture and often chosen as present for the unanimous appreciation it enjoys.

Initially born in Belgium, thanks to the architect Victor Horta, Art Nouveau soon spread throughout Europe, soon becoming the style of the new rising bourgeoisie. In Italy it was initially called «Floreale», this is how it was defined the new and bizarre style launched by the fabrics and objects designed for LIBERTY & CO. LTD warehouses. The Liberty style represented the first way in which the industrial society tried to give itself an aesthetic, looking for inspiration in nature and in the vegetable forms, to create a new style, totally original compared to those in vogue then. The most important centers of the "Liberty style of the '900" were Turin, Palermo, Florence, Lucca, Viareggio, Milan (Galimberti house, Porta Venezia), Rome, Emilia Romagna.
The movement was definitely established in our country after the Turin Exhibition in 1902. The promoters of the new style, all belonging to the circle of artists of Turin, were the sculptor Leonardo Bistolfi, Raimondo D'Aronco architect and the writer Enrico Thovez. A significant contribution in the application of the Art Nouveau style to the applied arts comes from France where prominent personalities are Emile Gallè and Renè Lalique, who are dedicated above all to a refined production destined for a very rich clientele.
