Hard opaline "Flat" by Master Glassmaker Bernard GILBERT 20th Foliage Very good condition 29.5x24.5 cm Short History: When the deputy mayor of Précy sur Oise, Mr. Charles Minost, was looking for a master glassmaker to replace the cathedral glass which was blocking “temporarily” the windows of the church until 1958, friends introduced him to Bernard GILBERT, a Parisian master glassmaker who worked in the footsteps and spirit of Georges Rouault. For the latter, the transcription into stained glass of a pictorial work requires a whole lot of acid engraving work, colored grisailles, a whole kitchen of painting with two or three temporary lead placements. Technique matters little to him. It is above all a different conception of art that counts.
