"“the Two Chicks” Camos Honoré (1906 - 1991)"
CAMOS Honoré Louis Théodore Born September 26, 1906 in Vallauris (Alpes-Maritimes). 20th century. French. Painter of landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, flowers and fruits, animal painter, draftsman, watercolorist, ceramist. Born in this village with an ancient tradition, he first practiced ceramics and created an artisanal workshop in Vallauris, where he gave lessons. His personal taste led him early on to painting, which he began self-taught. He exhibited in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a member. He also exhibited frequently on the Côte d'Azur. Technically, he reconstituted for his use a profession of precision, often almost photographic, perhaps inspired by Dutch still life painters of the 16th-18th centuries. In addition to his own still lifes of fruits and flowers, he is above all a painter of landscapes of Provence, other regions of France, especially Brittany, foreign countries and Africa. He made a specialty of painting birds, and almost exclusively the birds of farmyards. As with flowers, fruits and reflective materials, porcelain or pewter, his meticulous technique knows how to make the plumages so diverse. These works can be found at the Camos Museum in Bargemon. Oil on panel signed lower right. Format: 22 x 27 cm With frame: 39 x 44 cm
