The beautiful engraved plates represent very detailed plans and elevations of mills. “The author provides the means to simplify, perfect and make less expensive the machines and operations relating to silk” (Musset-Pathay, 637). Le Payen [Metz, 1715 - 1782], French agronomist, became the king's procurator at the Metz Finance Office. He is the author of several agronomic works, printed in his hometown.
