At The Moulin De Jarcy, 1912 - Victor Lecomte - Post-impressionism

Another beautiful little panel by Victor Lecomte which this time is on the side of the Impressionists to depict walkers with a view of a hamlet through the trees.
This hamlet the painter designated it on the back of the painting: “At the Jarcy mill, 1912”. (see photo)
A composition of lovely sensitivity with these trees in dark shades and a powerful presence which oppose the colors delicate characters and houses.

Victor Lecomte was born on November 4, 1856 in Paris and died in the same city on February 26, 1920.
At the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he followed courses in Pignot's workshop and his appetite for chiaroscuros reveals himself to Professor Achille Gilbert.
His favorite themes are genre subjects and the landscapes around his habitat: the banks of the Marne, the forest of Fontainebleau and Barbizon.
He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français with an honorable mention in 1892 and a 3rd class medal in 1897.
He won a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 and a 2nd class medal in 1905.

Oil on panel, in perfect condition, signed “Victor Lecomte” lower right. It is also titled, dated and with its exhibition number on the back: “Au moulin de Jarcy, 1912” “190”.
Size: 6,3 x 9,4 Inches without frame and 7,1 x 10,2 Inches with its gilded wooden stick.
