Victor Lecomte « village Entrance », Barbizon 1919 - Post-impressionism

Pretty little oil on wood in grisaille depicting a village entrance in the tradition of the Barbizon school.
This painting, sensitive and imbued with romanticism, is located on the back by the painter Victor Lecomte: “Village corner, Barbizon 1919”. (see photo)

Victor Lecomte was born on November 4, 1856 in Paris and died in the same city on February 26, 1920.
At the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he followed courses in Pignot's workshop and his appetite for the Chiaroscuros is revealed to Professor Achille Gilbert.
His favorite themes are genre subjects and the landscapes around his home: the banks of the Marne, the forest of Fontainebleau and Barbizon.
He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français with an honorable mention in 1892 and a 3rd class medal in 1897.
He received a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 and a 2nd class medal in 1905.
