Douglas Swan, an American painter born in 1930, began his artistic journey at Dundee College of Art in Scotland, continuing his studies in London. He developed a keen interest in the Italian contemporary art scene, influenced by artists such as Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani, and Roberto Crippa. Settling in Switzerland in the 1960s, Swan emerged as a significant figure of 20th-century art, regularly exhibiting his work.
The presented artwork exemplifies Swan's artistic output in the 1970s, as showcased at the Reckermann Gallery in Cologne in 1972.
