"Attributed To Jan Van Der Stoffe (1611-1682) - Battle Scene Between Ottomans And Europeans "
Battle scene between Ottomans and Europeans attributed to Jan Van Der STOFFE (1611-1682) Oil on canvas recently re-covered and restored with receipt of the invoice. Van der Stoffe was appointed master in 1644 and held numerous positions in the famous Leiden guild, of which he became dean in 1669. As an artist, he specialized in cavalry combats and hunting scenes in the style of Palamedes Palamedesz and Esaias van der Veldes. The current painting is an excellent example of Stoffe's art and a superior specimen of Dutch battle painting. Stoffe's works are housed in the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Size of the painting: 91 cm x 59 cm Size of the work: 75 cm x 43 cm Condition: Excellent condition of the work, some losses in the frame (see photos)
