A silver gilt mounted star tortoise snuff box.

European, first half of the 19th century.

Measures 9.6 x 6.3 x 4.6cm.

The snuff box comprising of both the carapace and plastron of the tortoise. The head, legs and tail modelled in gilded silver, the legs with little wheels attached. The interior also lined with gilded silver.
