"Paul Rue: "all Straight", Oil On Canvas Mounted On Cardboard"
Our work is annotated on the back: Tout dret, les contes de la Limousine, Gabriel Nigond. Paul Rue was the latter's half-brother. He is a regionalist painter. If the artist will hardly leave the department of Indre - "this country more melancholy than grandiose" - between its borders he turns out to be a nomadic landscaper: the Creuse valley, the surroundings of Poinçonnet, but above all the Brenne are its favorite places of inspiration. Regarding the latter, in an autograph letter, he said he was seduced by its strange and captivating character. La Brenne and its ponds are also conducive to the expression of one's emotions, in a more directly poetic register, imbued with gentleness and serenity. Signed lower left: Paul Rue
