The polyhedrons are made of blown glass in transparent and pinkish smoked colors arranged alternately, each measuring 13 cm. in height and 6.5 cm. in diameter and totaling 120 pieces, of which the outer row alone is in two rows. This large antique ceiling light has a wonderful scenic effect, the light softly spreads thanks to the combination of light pink and transparent colored Murano glass.
It is in good, working condition, comes from a private Milanese residence and in perfect condition compatible with the dating; the metal anchors of the glass are slightly oxidized.
Polihedrons were first proposed as compositional elements of the large Venini chandelier, based on a design by Ignazio Gardella, Paolo Venini and Enrico Peresutti, presented at the Brussels Expo in 1958, placed in the central hall of the Italian Pavilion.
The famous cascade chandelier proposed at the Turin Expo Italia '61 by Venini with Carlo Scarpa was made with that module.
A graduate of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, here he devoted himself to university teaching, which he continued in various positions until 1977.
Carlo Scarpa made a name for himself in the post-World War II period through major installations, particularly in Venice: the Paul Klee exhibition for the XXIV Biennale, the 1950 Art Book Pavilion, and the Italian Pavilion at the XXVI Biennale.
In 1932 he began working with VENINI, becoming its artistic director until 1946. A long period during which he left an indelible mark on the world of the Furnace, for the design of models that have gone down in history and for the search for the most refined techniques.
The chandelier should be completely stripped of the glass elements for delivery, the cost of packaging and transport is excluded from the price and will be quoted according to the final destination.
