Desmophyllum pertusum, long called Lophelia pertusa, is a species of scleractinian corals in the Caryophylliidae family. It is the most widespread species of cold-water reef-forming coral, found in most seas and oceans around the world, but especially in the northeast Atlantic and especially along the Norwegian coast. It lives at depths varying from 39 to more than 3,600 m, and at temperatures preferentially oscillating between 6 and 8°C.
