Zouave of the Imperial Guard under the Second Empire, full length, holding his Mle 1853 rifle.
He is represented in full uniform: saroual, vest, bolero, backpack and Model 1831 sword.
The subject is in bronze with brown patina on a base round, signed E FREMIET on the terrace.
Emmanuel Frémiet: famous sculptor born in Montrouge on December 6, 1824, died in Paris on September 10, 1910, author of famous works, the most famous of which, perhaps, is St Michel slaying the dragon of Mont Saint Michel. He was a professor at the School of Fine Arts.
