"Provençal Landscape - View From Menton"
French school from the first half of the 20th century signed Louis Vergetas. This is, as indicated at the bottom right, a view of Menton from the Castellar road. This large format landscape is a real window onto Provence and its very special lights. The composition, and especially these twisted trees in the foreground, almost reflect a Japanese influence.
