VASE, with the “Butterfly”.
Very beautiful Vase, fitted with a large sculptural base of naturalist inspiration in crystal paste cast with lost wax, mass-tinted in a polychrome gradient (with very beautiful, mixed tones of purple, blue-Indigo, green and yellow-amber), and depicting the leaves of an orchid, on which a butterfly has landed, wings outstretched. This base is topped with a slender-looking “soliflore” horn, made from fine blown translucent crystal, worked with a tool then welded to the base.
This is a very beautiful piece of glasswork, particularly prestigious, rare and qualitative: the vase, very decorative, can be considered as a sculpture in itself, as a true work of art.
The base in crystal paste, with multiple colors and reliefs, offers a superb contrast with the upper part of the vase, in fine, slender, translucent, smooth and clear crystal.
Even though it is a recent production, the inspiration from nature, even from the Art Nouveau movement, is clearly perceptible.
Work from the DAUM Manufacture in Nancy; signature affixed to the reverse of the base of the vase, in cursive letters incised with a vibrograph, "Daum France" (a first choice piece, therefore). Photo of the signature: see photo n°5.
Modern period, towards the end of the 20th century.
DIMENSIONS: - height of the vase, 21.25 CM; - the width of the base is approximately 15.00 CM; - the diameter of the top of the vase is 08.40 CM.
CONDITION REPORT: the vase is like new, in perfect condition. There is no chip or wear. It was probably never used, other than as a decorative object. The crystal is perfectly clear and brilliant; the colors of the base are bright and well preserved. A little dust on the base, but nothing else. Perfect condition.
