"Louis XIV Period Carved And Gilded Wood Stoup"
Very richly carved and gilded wooden stoup, decorated with a central medallion representing a penitent Saint Madeleine. Italian work around 1700. Gilding cleaned with tiny repairs and small partial restorations. Central medallion à la Bérain in an oval shape decorated with a penitent madeleine, surmounting the font. The entire panel is richly carved with acanthus leaves, scrolls and foliage topped with eagles perched on consoles with scrolls of flowers. The top part is decorated with a cross with an azure background. The zinc inside the font is missing.
