Superb and large pair of 19th century oil paintings attributed to Alfred Godchaux. His 2 paintings represent seaside landscapes probably around Bordeaux. For both they represent boats stranded on the shore for one on a flat sea and rough sea for the other. The work and technique is really comparable to that of Alfred Godchaux to whom we can attribute his works although not signed. Superb rendering of the sea and the sky, the colors are very bright. Rare as a pair, apart from a very slight difference in height between the 2 frames. High quality, very decorative paintings in very good condition, cleaned and varnished.
