"Buddha In "parinirvana", Nepal, 19th Century"
Little representation of the reclining Buddha in the last stage of his existence. Parinirvāṇa is also called in the Pali canon anupādisesa nibbāna, “nirvāṇa without remainder of existence”, or bhavanirodha, end of existence. It is the final victory over suffering (duḥkha), in accordance with the four noble truths. Having completed what he wanted to teach in his sermons, he absorbed himself in the four degrees of meditation, culminating in the final and ineffable state of nirvāṇa. Bronze or brass, made in two parts, in Nepal, during the 19th century.
