katar or katara is a typical dagger from South India. Its great particularity is its horizontal handle, allowing very powerful thrusting attacks, capable of piercing armor. Beautiful model with worked blade, central edge, floral decoration on both sides, and reinforced tip. H-shaped iron handle features two straight concave arms that protect the side of the hand and wrist, which are attached to the double baluster-shaped handle. India late 18th or early 19th century. Good general condition, with gray patina, some traces of oxidation. Length 46 cm, width 8 cm.
