Oil on canvas measuring 54cm x65cm plus period frame 75cm x 87cm representing a flowerbed with a pier of roses signed on the left L.de LADEVEZE Louis Eugénie de Ladevèze-Cauchois was born in Paris in 1855 and died in Marseille in 1938 In 1876 in Paris , she married the great painter Eugène CAUCHOIS Student of her husband and of Charles hermann-Léon, she exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1901 and became a member of the Society of French Artists. Among the scenes in the countryside, she represented the farmyard on numerous occasions with its roosters, geese and other turkeys. Like her husband, she specialized in the representation of flowers and fruits. She obtained an honorable mention in 1906 as well as the prestigious MARIE-BASHKIRTSEFF Prize, and a 3rd class medal in 1909. She won the 1st Prize of the Union of Women Painters and Sculptors in 1911, and became a member of the committee in 1913.
