Louis LEYDET (1873-1944) Vase of flowers, c.1920, gouache, 41 x 33 cm, signed lower right. Framed dimensions 60 x 52 cm.

Painter born in Aix en Provence, Louis Leydet was very early supported by Paul Cézanne who noticed the quality of his painting very early on. In 1902, in a letter to Charles Camoin he wrote: "I received news from Claude Monet and the card from Louis Leydet, son of the Senator of Aix. The latter is of the same ideas as you and me.
