"Statuary, Terracotta Sculpture - Virgin And Child - Popular Art, Auvergne"
End of the 18th century Auvergne Popular School Sublime small terracotta statuary representing a virgin and child, the virgin is represented standing and crowned carrying the child, pure work of popular art from Auvergne produced by an autodidact working far from the scholarly centers. The representation of this virgin and child is very disconcerting, through a very naive representation, close to a quasi-Archaic interpretation, a sublime devotion emerges from this piece which I do not hesitate to describe as museum-like. The virgin is of beautiful sculptural quality and all of its original polychromy has been preserved. Their faces are thin and elongated, with long eyebrows and large eyes, long, thin noses, and thin lips. Note: recent support, can be changed because the blank is removable, polychrome scales, missing a hand and old restoration probably broken in two parts (I specify this point but it is practically invisible) Dimensions: Total height: 40 cm ALL DELIVERIES ARE MADE BY DHL EXPRESS ONLY!
