Furniture at support height, Empire period. This two-leaf sideboard on a base, also called a "leaf chest of drawers", is a piece of furniture at support height, dating from the beginning of the 19th century. This piece of furniture is undoubtedly an Italian production marked by the Empire style. Built in softwood, it is veneered with beautiful, very large mahogany leaves with regular veining, the base symbolized by a plinth as well as the thick top are treated in faux green marble, with a very decorative appearance, the tones of green blend wonderfully with the color mahogany cherry. The chest of drawers is enriched with carved and gilded wooden decorations like the arrows applied to the leaves as well as the antique frieze symbolized by gadroons which highlight the top. This piece of furniture at support height is also adorned on its belt with a frieze of bronze stars on a green background. Another particularity of this piece of furniture, the lock which locks the right leaf has a central axis, this principle is found rarely enough to be underlined, the lock entry is thus concealed by a rosette with a sliding bronze flower button allowing it to be released the entrance and activate the lock. This type of sideboard with its support height also corresponds to the so-called “library body” piece of furniture. This piece of furniture is restored and is in a very good state of conservation.
