Pair of XVI style mahogany tables, princely provenance. This elegant pair of tables in mahogany and mahogany veneer, forming a bedside table or end table, dates from the end of the 19th century. It is a quality product surely Parisian from the suburbs, both tables bear a handwritten label indicating that these 2 pieces of furniture come from the former collection of Princess Marie Wolkonsky. Made in a Louis XVI style, with neoclassical ornamentation made of fluting and fine molding, this pair of tables has an oval shape in plan topped with turquin blue marble, in elevation the piece of furniture rests on 4 turned legs with belt opening with a drawer and 2 crotch shelves. Confirming beautiful manufacturing, we note that the drawers are assembled by fine dovetails, the pull knobs are in gilded bronze, the moldings are well executed and the whole benefits from beautiful proportions, the turquin blue marble is also a guarantee of quality, used since antiquity, it was mainly used to cover beautiful furniture from the Louis XVI and Empire periods.
