Museum: Large Bronze Key, 12-13th Century, Early Gothic, 14cm flag

Object description :

"Museum: Large Bronze Key, 12-13th Century, Early Gothic, 14cm"
Rare to find, few visible in documentation, This large, complex cast bronze key, trilobed ring, hollow straight stem of large diameter: (15mm), ending mid-bit?
Gothic spirit bead with closed openings, probably forming 3 significant letters,  muzzle hollow, able to accommodate a rod, forming a rake of 3 teeth, top and bottom.
I do not have sufficient expertise on objects from this period. I cannot explain the length of stem, wear on end of which seems completely normal, unmodified, but it may just as well have been shortened by use...
Discovery condition, untouched, beautiful patina, I point out a blow to end of muzzle, small deformation.
14cm x 5.5cm, weight: 180gr
Document photo: JJ Brunner, Les Clés, chez Vial., p.91.
