Object description :

"Glass Planter With Rotating Painted Decor Of A Lake Landscape Signed By Peynaud "
Painted glass planter signed by master glassmaker Jean-Simon Peynaud. Born in 1869 in Bordeaux. He worked for the Bordeaux faience factory Jules Vieillard, very well known to the Girondins and produces common pieces but also in form, in the Amédée de Carenza style including he probably shared the workshops. During the "Art Nouveau" period, he put his artistic sense at the service of very beautiful pieces of glassware in the spirit of the Nancy School. We find vases, candy boxes, lamp bases in opal, frosted, acid-etched glass and multicolored painted decorations. Jean-Simon Peynaud is a rare, complete artist to be discovered. He died in 1952. On this planter, Peynaud painted a lake landscape in warm autumnal colors. The decor is rotating, its depth is rendered by an interior painted background. Note a small chip on the interior rim
