"Richard Mandin (1909-2002) "waving Woman""
Richard MANDIN (Marseille 1909 - id 2002) - "undulating woman" oil on paper laminated on cardboard - signed lower left - format 50 X 65 cm - tiny gaps - Painter, illustrator. Expressionist. He was a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, at the same time as the Ecole du Louvre. He began exhibiting in Paris in 1945 and 1946. A painter who is difficult to classify, a fiery and deeply sincere character who took many risks and who visibly experienced great joy in expression. He was gifted with an extraordinary capacity for starting again. Late in life, during the gap period which began for him in 1970, he became "an abstract artist": some of his oils on paper dated 1987, are rightfully included in the collection of the Cantini museum.
