"Evening Coat In Wool Felt Appliqued With Embroidery, Designer Chellier Paris Circa 1910"
Circa 1905-1915 France An evening coat designed by Chellier in Paris as an interesting testimony to historical fashion from this period. Long cream wool felt coat, crew neck, long puffed sleeves and wide skirted hem. Bobbin embroidery work, inlaid and applied with motifs of ferris wheels and daisies on old pink velvet with reminder at the collar and cuffs. Here, a desire for transparency by superimposing materials, including openwork embroidery punctuating the bottom of the coat in three bands. Linings in cream silk pongee (totally lacunar depending on its chemical properties) lined with pleated bubbles of cream muslin in a stable condition. Label indicating Chellier, 53 Rue de Vivienne, successor to Reverdot Paris. Several moth holes in the wool felt. Presentable piece as is despite its average state of conservation. Dimensions: Equivalent to France size 42. Shoulders 43 cm, chest 98 cm, waist 110 cm, sleeves 75 cm, hips 124 cm, height 120 cm.
