"Antique 1740s George II Rococo Sterling Silver Rocaille Coffeepot With Aristocratic Armorials"
A George II sterling silver coffee pot, circa 1740s. Engraved armorials on both sides show that this coffeepot was commissioned by an aristocratic family.
Baluster form tapering body resting on a circular stepped spreading foot. Scroll-decorated cast handle mountings and ornate leaf-capped swan neck spout.
Stepped and domed ogee lid surmounted with a figural pinecone finial. The double C-scroll handle is made of fruitwood that has a lovely warm patina and beautiful grain.
Finely chased all over with scrolls, rocaille work, and foliage – the engraving is very crisp and shows highly masterful workmanship.
Weight: 747 g / 24.0 t oz

Very good antique condition. Hallmarks worn; tiny nicks to one side of the spout; small visible dent above one armorial and a faint ding above it; where the lower part of the handle joins the silver mount, the silver is a bit pushed down near the pin.
