"Pair Of Candlesticks / Torches In Gilt Bronze From The Empire Period Attributed To Claude Galle"
Pair of candlesticks or torches in bronze and mercury-gilded brass, Empire period circa 1810-1811, attributable to Claude Galle. Our candlesticks are of a model very close to the simple models ordered by the Imperial furniture store for the secondary apartments of the Château de Fontainebleau, "in the form of a quiver with knurled (molded) ornaments in matt gilded bronze" and show great similarities in details and finishes found on other identified productions by Claude Galle, which make this attribution very likely. This model is distinguished by its sobriety as well as excellent quality of execution. It is made up of 9 independent pieces. Original worn gilding, traces at the bottom of the carvings, confirming good quality during their design. Height: 26cm
