Albert François Larteau, French painter , was born in Nancy on July 7, 1870 and died in the 4th arrondissement of Paris on July 10, 1949. Presented by Jules Lefebvre at the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1889, he was a student of Benjamin-Constant and Gustave Moreau . He continued his career as a painter as a drawing and painting teacher then became an inspector of drawing education for the city of Paris. In Paris, since 1889, he has exhibited very regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. Imbued with the atmosphere of the barracks, he was able to create paintings reflecting the social life of the soldiers. He was noted for his paintings of military scenes during French artists' salons and the critic Edmond Anthome affirmed that "Mr. Larteau knows his soldier well". Passionate about military history, he is a member of La Sabretache (historical society for military studies).
