"Paul Sebilleau : “corn Harvest In Eyzies”"
Paul Sébilleau (1847-1907): “The corn at Eyzies”, oil on canvas 39.5 x 56 cm mounted in a modern gilded frame 49 x 66 cm. Signed, located and dated lower right Les Eyzies 85. As removed from the wall: fouling of the varnish, cracks and small chips. At the foot of the cliffs, a large farm with a smoking chimney seems to watch over the corn field ready to be harvested while two silhouettes are busy in the neighboring field. Student of Louis-Austin Auguin and Hippolyte Pradelles, regular exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Français and that of Fine Arts in Bordeaux, this charming Bordeaux artist gave us numerous landscapes of the South-West, from the Gironde to the Dordogne and from Landes to Charentes which earned him medals and prizes.
