Gustave Albert, or Gustaf Arbert Anderson,
He was born on October 30, 1866 in Eskilstuma in Sweden and died on February 27, 1905 in Gouvieux (France).
He has been active in France since 1890. Present in the Museums of Esklstuna, Goteborg, Stockholm...
After having been a copyist at the National Museum of Stockholm he learned from CARL Larson at the Valand school in Stockholm, he became the one of the youngest painters of the artists' association founded in 1886.
He lived in New York from 1887 to 1890.
From this arrival in France, in 1890, he exhibited regularly at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1893 to 1905, except 1903. At the 1900 Universal Exhibition he received a bronze medal for Night on the Coast, and in 1901 he became an associate of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
In 1898 he had a solo exhibition at Chaivet and at Simonson's Galerie des Artistes Modernes. For Gustave Albert, coming to Paris was the realization of a childhood dream, which dates back to the exhibition Bords de la Seine, staged for the first time on April 1, 1885 in Stockholm, at the gallery of Theodor Blanch .
Subsequently, for the next 12 years, Albert's work was devoted primarily to the landscape of France: Moret-sur-Loing, St-Mammes, Chantilly, Gargilesse, Honfleur, etc. Between 1897 and 1905, his investigations always led him in the same direction: the study of the different effects of light and the law of simultaneous color contrast. From this moment on, the composition of his landscapes emphasized the importance of a horizon that no longer had any relation to what we could call "panoramic". He was to continue his first investigations in 1894 in the Chantilly region, where he settled in 1896.
