Medal for the capture of Rosas (1645); reverse draw on horn.We know of a few prints on horn or tortoise shell made in the 17th century – this practice having taken place in the 18th and 19th centuries – most of the time used as luxuary gifts or collection or ceremonial objects.
The negative print of the medal suggests that it was made using the medal itself and not the matrix.
