Vendôme Column
Bronze with brown patina and marble
Dimensions : H. 27 ; C. 10,5 (cm.)
France, mid-19th century
These miniature copies probably appeared at the time of the return of the ashes under the July Monarchy. They have a dual appeal: aesthetic, reminiscent of Grand Tour objects such as the Trajan or Aurelian columns, but also historical in terms of the origin of its bronze construction: the seizure of enemy cannons from the Russians and Austrians...
Condition report: very good condition, very small dents to the marble, minor missing parts.
