"Armand Massonet (1892-1979), The Tennis Player"

Dimensions at sight: 34 / 24 cm Armand Massonet: He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris (in the class of Fernand Cormon), where he followed the traces of van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec. During the First World War, Massonet served in the Belgian army as a stretcher bearer while working for the military artistic section, sketching scenes of war and devastation across Belgium. Massonet's work reveals a particular aptitude for sketching and capturing movement and light. As a painter, he created numerous views of cities (Brussels, Paris, Venice) as well as interior scenes. His paintings also addressed the theme of music and dance, with portraits of jazz bands and pianists. He produced numerous posters and advertising designs for companies.
