Dimensions of the work 21.5x27 cm Total dimensions, with frame, 35x40 cm Mèrio Amèglio is an Italian painter, engraver, lithographer and illustrator born in San Remo in 1897. He is a Montmartre painter who enrolled in the School from Paris. He is mainly known for his landscapes, scenes of urban life and seascapes. Mério Amégolio spent his entire childhood in the south of France. Passionate about painting from a very young age, he observed artists working on the Riviera and learned by watching them work. He decides to go to Paris to improve his skills, and returns to the capital, painting the landscapes he crosses. In Paris, he settled in Montmartre and built a reputation painting street scenes and urban landscapes. Merio was associated with avant-garde artists such as Jacques Villon, Van Dongen and Pablo Picasso, from whose techniques and methods he learned. Merio Ameglio was an active member of the Paris Salon, regularly participating in its exhibitions. In October 1969, the Cambacérès gallery (Paris) organized a retrospective of his work. He came into the spotlight at the 1938 Paris Salon exhibition, when his oil painting titled Rouen Cathedral earned him an honorable mention. Merio is represented in prominent museums and private collections around the world. He died on July 29, 1970 in Montmartre.
