"Pair Of Compound Cavalry Stirrups, 17th/early 18th Century "
An interesting pair of cage or basket stirrups from the mid-17th/early 18th century. Expertly hand forged from period wrought iron, they feature openwork temples and foot plates, one with an attached rotating eyelet. In good general condition with some oxidation. The main suspension arch resembles that of a horseshoe, the front branches are reminiscent of a sword hilt and the foot plates appear to have insignia.
