Suite of 4 19th century engravings engraved by Gabriel Perelle and Nicolas Langlois rue Saint Jacques in Paris Very fine engravings with many details Very beautiful framed set Framing made by the Dangleterre house, rue de Seine in Paris Very good general condition long: 37 cm each width: 32 cm each View: 19 x 25 cm each For information: Gabriel Perelle was born in Vernon on March 7, 1604 and died in Paris on June 6, 1677 He was trained by Daniel Rabel and produced several hundred engravings as many after his own designs than those of his competitors. These etchings and intaglio prints mainly represent landscapes of the Paris region, notably views of castles, where he introduced variety by adding ruins and various accessories. Gabriel Pérelle, who was helped in his work by his two sons Nicolas (1625-1692) and Adam (1638-1695) and by two sons of Callot, also produced engravings of battles and war scenes. Gabriel Pérelle, who was also the brother of a landscape painter working in Orléans, was the father-in-law of the painter René Lonchon. Gabriel Pérelle was also director of plans and maps for the King's cabinet. Nicolas Langlois born in 1640 and died in 1703 was a printer, bookseller, print dealer, and publisher Son of the Parisian bookseller and print dealer François Langlois dit Chartres, he was made master in 1655 and was made printer in 1686. He is the father of the bookseller and print publisher Nicolas II Langlois (1670-1707), who succeeded him at the same address. He died shortly before April 1, 1703.
