The painting depicts an elaborate Still Life of fruit and game, enlivened by the lively presence of two splendid roosters and a group of small birds.
It is one of the most typical pictorial compositions of the Milanese master Angelo Maria Crivelli known as Crivellone, excellent in the description of birds and hunting prey including fruit and vegetables.
His skills as an "animal" painter are clearly evident in this canvas, in particular in the rendering of the plumage and above all in the unsurpassed lively looks of the two roosters, which characterize a large part of his works.
