Object description :

"Lionel Jadot, Important Daybed In Cowhide, Vegetal Leather And Oak. C.2010"

This stunning daybed, designed and crafted by Lionel Jadot, is a remarkable fusion of raw and transformed materials, as cowhide meets vegetable leather. Made circa 2010, this one of a kind piece is inspired by the aesthetics of ancient Egypt. It embodies timeless elegance and exclusive craftsmanship, and was made to order for a interior design project in Brussels. Sturdy oak legs enhance its robust yet elegant appeal. A truly unique addition to any space, offering both great comfort and striking visual impact. Traces of use and patina on the leather and legs, very good overall condition. Signed by the artist.
Belgian designer, decorator and artist Lionel Jadot embodies the ecological mutations of our time, which he masters intuitively. Born in 1969, he grew up in a Brussels chaiserie workshop, where his family had worked for six generations. He has since then nurtured a passion for transforming recycled materials.
Since childhood, Jadot has created unique works, preferring sustainable objects to mass production. As an interior designer, he has just completed “Le Mix” in Brussels, a hotel and living space shaped with the help of fifty designers, offering an unforgettable experience of hospitality. These designers are often hosted in his Zaventem studio, a veritable incubator of talent.
Lionel Jadot developed an obsession with recycling at an early age, finding the scraps from his family’s workshop an inexhaustible source of inspiration. He made his first stool at the age of six and pursued this passion at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, then alongside renowned craftsmen and architects.
After taking over the family business at the age of 19, he gained valuable experience in management and design. In 2000, he set up his own studio, incorporating the principle of material recovery, and quickly achieved success.
Lionel Jadot will receive the Designer of the Year award at the upcoming Maison&Objet, from September 5 to 9, 2024.
