Preparing the aperitif, oil on canvas by Joseph Caraud (1821 - 1905) depicting a young servant busy in the kitchen. Signed "J. Caraud" in the lower right corner. Relining. In a gilded frame with some chips. Overall dimensions: 41 x 32.5 cm. Dimensions at sight: 32 x 23 cm. Charming subject in good state of conservation. Joseph Caraud was a student of Abel de Pujol. He won the bronze medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition.
