Painting representing Madame Butterfly in Japanese painted on wooden panel signed Maria Salkin Lambiotte, born in 1872 and died in 1930, was a Belgian painter and designer. Maria Lambiotte. She was the daughter of the wood merchant and chemist Lucien Lambiotte and Thérèse Vigneron. She is the sister of the entrepreneur and politician Auguste Lambiotte from Schaerbeek. She married Paul Salkin, born in Ixelles on February 14, 1869 and died in Watermael on April 15, 1932, advisor to the court of appeal. She is the mother of the painter Émile Salkin (1900-1977). Paul Salkin built Villa Jacques in Cortenbergh in 1897, a villa with an eclectic style. This villa is named after the eldest son Jacques Salkin (born in 1897 and died in 1947)7. The same year, Paul Salkin, being the grandson of the former owner, Baroness Julie d'Eesbeeck Vanderhaeghen, (the abbey castle) of Cortenbergh Abbey, where the family resided from 1900. The abbey remained in the hands of the Salkin family until 1933. Maria Lambiotte had her workshop there. She exhibited her works at the Universal and International Exhibition in Brussels in 1910 and also at the Fine Arts Exhibition in Spa in 1914. Dimensions without frame Width Height 27 cm
