Giberne pouch by Charrière. This type of kit was worn on the belt or over the shoulder by army surgeons, and had to bring together in the smallest possible volume a number of necessary instruments which had been defined by the army. Folding case with three folding flaps with 25 instruments (steel, black horn or tortoiseshell handles), most signed Charrière: 2 probes and 1 stylet, 1 pair of curved scissors, 4 scalpels, 1 razor, 2 tweezers, 1 twisting forceps , 1 double erector, and a bellows compartment under the upper flap including 12 bleeding lancets.
Beautiful complete kit of regulatory instruments, nickel silver clasp, the manufacturer's mark is affixed in gold letters on the upper flap. Note tears in the leather at the top flap, some traces of oxidation.
