Representation of the Crucifix carved on a Byzantine cross with the Virgin and St. Joseph on either side. The object is naively painted in tempera in red and green with a raised edge, decorated in gold and dotted with dark globes. The step where the feet rest has been carved laterally to allow the twisting of the dead Christ.
