VINCENZO POSTIGLIONE (1831-1916):
He is to be considered the progenitor of the Neapolitan school of the twentieth century. It is close to the Postiglione copy
luthier at a very young age, when he became Vincenzo Jorio's apprentice at the age of 16.
He dedicated himself to construction following the models of the classics, such as Stradivari, Guarneri and Gagliano, with great mastery and a strong personal imprint. Over 500 tools
they bear his name, highly sought after both for their workmanship and for their acoustic qualities - he mostly built violins and cellos, but also violas, double basses, viola d'amore.
Very varied qualitative production from the beautiful author's instrument to instruments with semi-finished cases (mostly coming from Czechoslovakia) finished and painted.
It often reported, on the label or inside the soundboard, "The Eye of Providence", a Masonic symbol.
He worked at the Quartieri Spagnoli in Vico Tre Regine.
