18th century Italian frame in carved wood in the lacca povera style.
Very popular in Italy and particularly in Venice in the 18th century, laca povera or lacca contrafatta consisted of cutting out engravings and sticking them on frames, furniture and objects of art before enhancing them with paint and lacquering them. The aim of this process was to be able to carry out large orders very quickly while reducing costs, thus making art more accessible, but also allowing very large spaces to be decorated quickly.
Good condition, old mirror but not original.
