"Painting Child With Jewels Signed Claire Hildebrand 1856-1898"
French work, 19th century Oil canvas (Dubus) and original stretcher, signed and dated on the right "C.Hildebrand 1881". Representing a child with jewelry, entirely period work having undergone no restoration. Exhibition of the work at the Salon of 1881, No. 1146 then at the Salon of 1882, No. 1350. Claire Hildebrand studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg before continuing her training in Paris. She was a student of William Bourguereau, Charles Chaplin, Delphine de Cool, Gustave Courtois and Alfred Stevens. She exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1873 and regularly at the Mulhouse Salon. One of his paintings, an Alsatian couple, produced before 1883, is kept at the Unterlinden museum in Colmar, testifying to his talent and his contribution to Alsatian Art.
